MWC 922: The Red Square Nebula 🔴✨

Why does this nebula look almost perfectly square? Astronomers aren't entirely sure. MWC 922 is a hot star system surrounded by a striking nebula, possibly shaped by cones of gas expelled by its central star or stars.

This remarkable image combines infrared observations from the Hale Telescope in California and the Keck-2 Telescope in Hawaii, revealing the unusual structure and radial patterns surrounding the star.

Rubin’s COSMOS Field 🔭✨

This stunning view contains more than half a million galaxies in a patch of sky several times wider than the full Moon. The COSMOS field has been observed by Hubble, Webb, and now the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, offering an extraordinary look at galaxies billions of light-years away.

Rubin will revisit this field throughout its 10-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), allowing astronomers to observe how the sky changes over time.
