Creatives, we hear you! ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ

Last May, we surveyed our creatives to ask how we can help them. Most answered that art markets are an effective platform for our creatives to connect to their audience.

To address the challenge, we are organizing another iteration of Taboan Creative Market in time for the Design Week Philippines in October.

We've had two iterations organized in the past, and they've been a fun experience for our creatives, supporters, and the community in general!!

What to expect at the upcoming Taboan Art Market?

- Your favorite artists, artisans, and creatives
- Activities perfect for those who are hobbymaxxing (we see you)
- "Kamustahanay", a Presentation Party where we get to meet the creatives behind their art
- Learning opportunities
- And more

This monomaterial collage is an experiment in memory-archivingโ€”a process the artist considers a meditative practice that involves selecting materials and carefully peeling away the image to create another.

Some of you might have seen Oreo at the gallery. As much as we like her around, the gallery is not an ideal home for her. Weโ€™ve been looking for a forever home for her but we were unsuccessful on the ground, hence this post.

If you or anyone you know is looking for an art-loving cat companion, DM us. โœจ

1963

For the first time, the public will have the opportunity to see and hold a rare Hiligaynon translation of Dr. Josรฉ Rizalโ€™s Noli Me Tangere, translated by Gg. Isidro Escare Abeto and published in 1963 by the National Heroes Commission in Manila as part of Mga Sinulatan ni Jose Rizal, Tomo IV: Noli Me Tรกngere. The copy of this historic edition is from the Library of Noel Galon de Leon of Kasingkasing Press, offering Ilonggo readers a rare opportunity to encounter Rizalโ€™s most famous novel through the language of their own region.

We invite the public, especially curious Ilonggos, readers, researchers, students, and lovers of language and literature, to take a closer look at this remarkable piece of our literary and cultural history.

Including this book in the exhibition is a nod to the power of storytellingโ€”a fitting conclusion to this August's celebration of Filipino languages.

El Dosado captures creatures of regional lore, rendering them through smoky, atmospheric layers that pull the viewer directly into his mythical worlds. A Fine Arts graduate of Philippine Womenโ€™s University, he also teaches art part-time at Gamot Cogon Waldorf School in Zarraga, Iloilo.

In โ€œThe Tree That Remembersโ€, Miรฑoso is informed by her environment, having traded the cosmopolitan life in Manila for the nature of Tigbauan. She graduated from Assumption College San Lorenzo with a degree in Communications, Major in Advertising and Public Relations. Her style has evolved from photorealism to impressionism, almost erasing the image and visualising it as hazy memories.

"A Tree that Remembers" is part of the exhibition "Sa Ambahanon sang Balod kag Kiay sang mga Kagulangan" currently on view at Thrive Art Gallery.
