TODAY IN HISTORY we commemorate the valor of World War II Veterans.

The photo below is from the book "Lieutenant Ramsey’s War", where Lieutenant Colonel Edwin P. Ramsay was in Manila with his general staff and district commanders of East Central Luzon Guerilla Army (ECLGA). Jose B. Lingad was the commander of the Pampanga Military District (PMD).

Col. Lingad, who later ascended to the position of Chief of Staff for the Pampanga Military District (PMD) ECLGA, played a crucial role in facilitating the connection between other military districts in Bataan and Lt. Ramsey. Together, in a daring move, they targeted the Japanese Army’s camp in Lubao, executing sabotage operations on enemy artillery installations and successfully acquiring their supplies. These seized provisions were then distributed to the four military districts within Pampanga, amplifying the impact of their efforts in the resistance movement.

History has often labeled women as mere companions. They have long been viewed as part of society expected to assist in fulfilling men’s responsibilities, while also being expected to remain graceful and compliant. These perceptions persisted over time and proliferated to the rise of stereotypes that shaped society’s gender roles.
Women have been heavily limited to household chores, basic education, and livelihood courses centered on assisting in business. In the Philippines, the rise of industry opened doors for women to enter the workforce, yet this participation was far from equitable. Women often received minimal wages, worked under challenging conditions, and remained excluded from meaningful decision-making—both within the household and in broader society. Their labor was essential, yet their voices were frequently unheard and undervalued.

Women have long fought for their rightful place in the workplace, the household, and the community. At one point, even participating in politics seemed like an impossible dream.

This month, the Museo ni Jose B. Lingad presents “The Women of the 7th Congress” to commemorate the women who took part in the male-dominated Congress of the Philippines in 1970. As they gradually carved their path in politics, we honor their contributions in shaping the country through their service.

This is for women. This is for being a woman.

Pamenese: Educating Selected Students from Brgy. Bangcal Pugad, Lubao (in collaboration with DepEd Lubao) .

The museum through its annual program of supporting local school communities with coaching initiatives. Project Pamanese-A Kapampangan word that means “taking care,” symbolizing the opportunity that awaits the younger generation when government takes more initiative to make more education more holistic. The objective of Project Pamanese is to serve as a helping hand in achieving DepEd’s goal of elevating the nation’s literacy rate.

With a group of professional partner volunteers and teachers, the Museo ni Jose B. Lingad visited Bangcal Pugad Integrated school and establish a partnership with the local community. The school is believed to have fewer students compared to other schools in areas not generally located in coastal communities. It is believed that fewer students attend school due to poverty and lack of stakeholders support.

The museum continuing the legacy of Jose B. Lingad on his program in education during his governorship conducted a series of tests to assess students’ reading comprehension and writing skills. This will be followed by a report prepared by young professionals on how the museum can work together to provide comprehensive assessment and sustained support for these students in the future. The goal is not only to encourage students to attend school, but also to promote interactive learning within the community for a long term basis all while promoting the museum as a continued and shared space for learning and research.

Through this project we can highlight increased awareness of the role of cultural institutions in supporting education and establishment to of sustainable framework for future educational outreach programs.

We would like to thank Bancal Pugad Integrated School FB Page and Ma'am Aurora Samia for the warm welcome and the shared partnership to make this event possible.

Pampanga State University- Lubao and Bacolor Campus for the assistance,

The Jose B. Lingad Foundation for sponsoring some of the school supplies, and to Laurus Medical Supplies for meals of the students.
