Please be informed that the NHCP Museum of Philippine Maritime History, Iloilo City will be closed to the public on 23 July 2026 (Thursday) to give way to the scheduled termite and pest control maintenance.

Normal operations and regular visiting hours will resume on 𝟐𝟒 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲).

We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we undertake these maintenance activities to ensure a safe, clean, and well-preserved environment for all visitors.

We are thrilled to welcome our Young Learners from Rizal Pala Pala and Veterans Village Child Development Center 2 alongside with our guests from various places and schools this week.

As they explored our galleries, each exhibit became an opportunity to ask questions, spark imagination, and uncover the stories that have shaped our maritime heritage. Moments like these remind us that museums are more than places that preserve history—they inspire curiosity, learning, and a lifelong appreciation for our shared past.

Today, we join Filipinos worldwide in commemorating the 128th Philippine Independence Day.

In 1898, President Emilio Aguinaldo and the revolutionary government proclaimed Philippine independence from Spanish rule in Kawit, Cavite. While initially observed until 1901, the celebration was later moved to July 4th following post-war international recognition. It wasn't until 1964, through Republic Act No. 4166, that June 12 was officially restored as our true Independence Day.
