This History Month 2026, GBR Museum welcomes to the Province of Cavite one of the country’s foremost and reputable historical society – The Manila Studies Association, Inc.

On its 34th anniversary, the 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒍𝒂 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 finds a fitting locus in the Province of Cavite revisiting the historic ties that defined people and places across ages.

GBR Museum, one of the first private museums in Cavite, is honored to join the esteemed pool of historians, scholars, history and heritage advocates in presenting the 2026 Manila Studies Conference with the theme ‘𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒍𝒂-𝑪𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏’.

Our founder, the late Geronimo Berenguer de los Reyes, Jr. (GBR), was a staunch supporter and lover of history. Tracing his lineage to Crisanto de los Reyes, an industrialist who managed businesses in Manila and Cavite Puerto alongside his invaluable support to Filipino workers at the port. Crisanto was later implicated in the 1872 Cavite Mutiny, a turning point in Philippine History.

We invite our local historians, academic institutions, historical societies, tourism offices and civic organizations to join the 34th Manila Studies Conference this coming September 15 and 16, 2026 to be held at the NHCP Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite.

Kaisa ang GBR Museum sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Agosto bilang Buwan ng Kasaysayan alinsunod sa Proklamasyon Blg. 339 na isinabatas ni Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III noong Pebrero 16, 2012.

Bilang isang museo na naglalahad ng mahahalagang tagpo sa ating kasaysayan, ang buwan na ito ay isang paanyaya upang muling balikan, sinupin, pag-aralan at ilahad ang bugso ng mga pangyayaring humubog at patuloy na bumabalangkas sa ating pagkakakilanlan.

Binabati ng GBR Museum ang NHCP Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit Tourism, at Kawit Historical Society sa matagumpay na pagdaraos ng Magdalena Talks 2026 bilang bahagi ng paghahanda sa kapistahan ng Milagrosang Patrona ng Bayan ng Kawit na si Santa Maria Magdalena.

Tampok sa nasabing palihan ang mga paksang 'Iconographic Studies on the Old Image of Saint Mary Magdalene' at 'Saint Mary Magdalene as the Patroness of the Revolutionary Caviteños' Struggle', kapwa ibinahagi ni Dr. Virzon L. Sarao.

Few days before our Independence Day celebration, we revisited a site made sacred by its seminal relation to our quest for Independence. This hallowed ground is also dear to our Founder’s bloodline being the locus of his enterprise and a movement he dearly supported.

GBR Museum together with the Board of Trustees of the Geronimo Berenguer de los Reyes Jr. Foundation and Administrative Personnel of the Gateway Business Park recently visited the Philippine Navy Museum at the historic Fort San Felipe Neri, Cavite City.

The 17th century Fort San Felipe at the ancient Cavite Puerto is a silent witness to the January 20, 1872 mutiny led by Filipino artillerymen, soldiers, and workers of the arsenal. The quelled mutiny resulted in the arrest and later martyrdom of the Three Filipino Secular Priests – Fathers Mariano Gomes, José Burgos and Jacinto Zamora. This also implicated 154 other Filipinos including Crisanto Mendoza de los Reyes, the great-grandfather of GBR.

GBR Museum congratulates the Museo De La Salle for the successful opening of PATUBIG: Cavite's Heritage Irrigation System. The exhibition takes inspiration from the exhaustive research conducted by no less than Hon. Aidel Paul G. Belamide, Board Member of the 5th District of Cavite and Mr. Edgar Allan Sembrano, whose postgraduate dissertation covered the Spanish Colonial Period irrigation systems in the provinces of Laguna and Cavite. We also extend our greetings to the staff of MDLS led by Director Mary Ann Jimenez-Salvador for their in-depth investigative fieldwork. PATUBIG is a timely exhibition that revisits the enduring legacy of friar lands and irrigation systems in Cavite. PATUBIG runs until August 31, 2026.

What a great way to celebrate Philippine 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 this May and join museums around the world this May 18 (Monday) as we observe 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲!

𝗜𝗠𝗗𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 fittingly underscore this year’s theme ‘𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮𝘴 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥’. With societies and communities greatly challenged with differing ideologies, we are reminded on the power of museums as spaces of dialogue and understanding the past. As museum professionals we are also invited to strengthen this commitment by activating our exhibitions and programs as platforms of exchange and discover with great joy our interconnectedness.

GBR Museum is very delighted with the recent visit of Mr. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala. Mr. Ayala comes from a prominent Spanish and German lineage and whose family history is intertwined with names and episodes in our national history. Mr. Ayala is the current Chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, with companies dealing with real estate, public infrastructure, insurance, and banking.
