CEBU CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY JOINS THE NATION IN MOURNING THE PASSING OF NATIONAL ARTIST RESIL B. MOJARES

The Cebu City Public Library joins the entire nation in deeply mourning the passing of National Artist for Literature Dr. Resil B. Mojares—a monumental figure in Philippine letters, history, and Cebuano culture.

Dr. Mojares devoted his life to words, memory, and truth. Through his groundbreaking books, rigorous research, and inspiring mentorship, he illuminated the deep contours of Cebuano and Philippine identity, teaching generations to see our past with clarity, pride, and depth.

For a library, the loss of such a visionary scholar hits close to home. Yet, while the author rests, his lifework endures:

The books remain.

The words remain.

The legacy remains.

Rest in peace, National Artist Resil B. Mojares. Your wisdom and voice will live on permanently on our shelves, in our archives, throughout our classrooms, and in the collective memory of the nation.
