Day by day, we continue to observe a growing number of students visiting the Kinatbalogan City Museum and City Library.

Students from various schools visited the place, choosing KML as their space to study, hold photo shoots, appreciate exhibits, and enjoy its calm and silent environment.

KML—highlighting its value as a shared hub for learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

Fresh from her win as 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 two days ago held at Leyte Convention Complex in Palo, Leyte, Ms. Ynah Trei Piano Froilan representing Catbalogan City paid a courtesy call with City Mayor Dexter Uy yesterday, June 23, 2026.

Ynah, 15 years old is the daughter of Erwin Yboa Froilan and Kathy Piano Froilan and is currently enrolled at St. Therese Educational Foundation of Tacloban Inc. where she excels as a column writer of The Herald Tribune, their official school publication; a podcast and media host for Emerge STEFTI, the school's official digital platform and broadcast initiative; a marimba player for the STEFTI Blue Royals Marching Band; and a volleyball player for STEFTI Braves women's team.

Ms. Froilan’s regional victory not only solidifies Catbalogan’s reputation in pageantry but also showcases the extraordinary success possible when a community rallies behind its own.

A warm welcome to Miss Teen Universe Philippines, Ms. Catherine Wardle as she paid a courtesy with City Mayor Dexter Uy earlier today, June 22, 2026.

It was just six months ago when Ms. Wardle, carrying the sash of Catbalogan City was crowned as MUPH Samar Island, which took her to the national stage and later earned a Top 30 finish after a rigorous series of exposures, segments, and competitions.

Ms. Wardle was sashed as Miss Teen Universe Philippines, which earned her a chance to represent the Philippines at an international pageant.

From Catbalogan to the universe, now on her Teen Universe, her time to continues.

City Mayor warmly welcomed this win together with Sir John Minas, local director for MUPH Samar Island establishing Catbalogan City as a powerhouse for pageants and related competitions.

Every Tuesday, we at 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙏𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙊𝙂𝘼𝙉 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 will be featuring Binisaya or Waray-waray words as part of our renewed initiative as managed by the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO).

This is an effort to highlight and popularize this intangible cultural heritage of Catbalogan City as supported by City Mayor Dexter Uy towards the 2040 Derecho Uswag Development Agenda under the priority area.

𝘿𝙪𝙘𝙠, 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙!

Employees of the City Tourism, Culture, Arts and Information Office (CTCAIO) and those assigned at Kinatbalogan City Museum and City Library joined the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) last June 18, 2026 in compliance to a memorandum circular issued by City Mayor Dexter Uy for the mentioned activity.

The NSED is a quarterly major endeavor spearheaded by the Office Of Civil Defense (OCD) to enhance earthquake preparedness through the regular conduct of drills/exercises among the line agencies, LGUs and other government instrumentalities.

The Philippines has been elected as one of four new Asia-Pacific members of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (IGH-ICH), securing 106 votes or 68% of the 156 valid votes cast by UNESCO member states.

The IGC-ICH is the committee responsible for providing guidance on best practices and making recommendations on safeguarding cultural expressions, indigenous knowledge and traditional practices. | via Joseph Morong/GMA News

Unveiling the soul of our coastal heritage, Catbalogan City proudly sets the stage for the 2026 Manaragat Festival!

The theme for the cultural presentations and festival showdown for the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 is " #𝗞𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗔𝗡 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆" as approved in 2025 by the Local Culture & the Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC) and the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) both headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy.

It shall focus on 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 specifically related to the seas and bodies of water. Eight ( 8 ) folktales were officially chosen out of the cultural mapping funded by the city government in 2024 and facilitated by LCAC Co-Chair, Prof. Jhonil Bajado dubbed as ‘Manaragat Creatures: Catbalogan Sea Creatures and Mythologies’.

By intertwining the "Myths and Memories" of our coastal heritage with modern "Culture and Creativity," the festival serves as a platform to elevate the local creative economy and empower grassroots communities. It honors the sacred folklore and historical identity of Catbalogan City while positioning them as dynamic inspirations for contemporary innovation.

Officially sanctioned by the LCAC and CTC under Mayor Dexter Uy, this milestone showcase drives our cultural narrative straight forward, transforming timeless Catbalogan lore into a vibrant catalyst for long-term pride, inclusive wealth, and Derecho Uswag progress.
