About the Memorabilia :
After the death of Congressman Salvador H. Escudero III on August 13, 2012, his widow, now Congresswoman Evelina “Nanay Evie” Buencamino Guevara conceptualized of putting up a museum in his honor. His son, senator Francis Joseph “Chiz” immediately agreed and suggested that it should be located at the new municipal building of the Municipality of Casiguran which was being p
lanned during that time. Casiguran Mayor Ester Hamor gave her full consent to the idea when she committed to allocate a space in the soon-to-be constructed edifice. Nanay Evie further revealed that the first option for the museum was the Sorsogon Dairy Farm located at Barangay Cabid-an, East District, Sorsogon City when Research Outreach Station Superintendent Dolores Ricrafranca proposed to construct a building inside the said premises in his honor. However, the construction of the said edifice need to undergo lengthy required bureaucratic process and the local government unit (LGU) of Casiguran can fast track construction of their municipal hall. Thus, the SHE Memorabilia in Casiguran was first realized. The Memorabilia features the highlights of Tatay’s life as legislator and public servant with collections of his personal mementos such as vintage photographs such as his high school days, as youngest dean of the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Veterinary Medicine, Marcos Era, as Batasan Pambansa member, post EDSA years, family pictures, awards and recognitions received. The future museum at the Sorsogon dairy farm will feature his professional life as veterinarian and agriculture secretary for both the Marcos and Ramos administrations. The Museum's curator is Nanay Evie herself assisted by Totep Jimenez Perez of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), with technical assistance from PIA - Bicol Regional Office Research Division.
