Did you know that the La Castilla we know today was once a home? β€οΈπ
Before becoming one of Liceo de Cagayan Universityβs treasured heritage spaces, La Castilla was the summer residence and later home of Liceoβs founders, Atty. Rodolfo N. Pelaez and his wife, Elsa Pelaez Pelaez.
After the 1976 earthquake, the founders moved from their residence on Rizal Street and made La Castilla their family home. It remained closely connected to the Pelaez family and the story of Liceo before eventually becoming the La Castilla Museum, preserving household heirlooms, antiques, photographs, and family memorabilia that offer a glimpse into 20th-century Filipino life.
Now, letβs take a trip back to the 1990s. πΈ
For many Liceans, La Castilla was more than an old house beside the campus. It was a familiar part of the Liceo landscapeβa place filled with history, stories, and memories passed down through generations.
