On May 14, we gathered our bananamazing Science Education Promoters (SEP), our friendly tour operators, who tirelessly bring The Catsup Museum experience to Filipino students around the country. Together, we celebrated our shared "Legacy and Vision" with a special tribute to the brilliant Maria Ylagan Orosa.

Si Maria Ylagan Orosa, noong ikalawang digmaang Pandaigdig, ang Pilipinang chemist na lumaban sa digmaan gamit ang agham. Why is Banana Catsup Red?

Actually, ang original na banana catsup ni Maria Orosa ay brown mula sa natural na kulay ng nilutong saging. Inimbento niya ito dahil mahirap mahanap at mahal rin ang kamatis nuong World War 2. And like many inventions, the recipe evolved and improved!

Since then, nadagdagan ito ng food colorants, vinegar, sweeteners, extra spices at iba pang ingredients to create the red tamis-anghang catsup we love today!
