Water, the oldest element sustaining life on Earth, shifts forms endlessly. It evaporates, condenses, rains, and floods. But in the end, it always returns to itself. Water carries with it the shape of what it touches. It remembers the weight of homes, the sound of cries, and the names of those it takes.

In the wake of Typhoon Tino, which struck Cebu with fatal force and claimed over 140 lives, we are left not only with destruction but with memory. That memory is soaked into soil, wood, and story. Although the artworks in this exhibition were not created in direct response to the storm, they are all made in watercolor, a medium uniquely fragile to the very element that caused so much grief.

Ang Tubig Mudumdum gathers these works under a new light. Through soft washes and bleeding edges, we reflect on the relationship between water and vulnerability, water and survival, water and grief. Each piece becomes part of a larger narrative. A remembrance. A protest. A prayer.

Within these delicate surfaces, we do not see only beauty. We see what endures. We see what was nearly erased. We see memory made visible so that those in power cannot pretend to forget.

Ang tubig mudumdum. So must we.

Where do we find hope when the ground is still soft?

We are joining hands with our art community to speak, to listen, and to lift. Florentino's Art Gallery announces its participation in this year's Visayas Art Fair. After the string of calamities in Cebu, maybe this is how we can show up for our artists, patrons, family, and friends. A breath of fresh air we need, or a stage for our anger and grief. Both are welcome.

Happening:
๐Ÿ—“ November 15, Saturday
๐Ÿ“Booth B02, 12th Floor, OITC3 Building
๐Ÿ“Oakridge Studio, Mandaue City, Cebu

Proceeds of the fair sales and 100% of the tickets will be donated to victims of typhoon Tino.

See you at the Visayas Art Fair. Letโ€™s bring our voices, our grief, our courage, and our love for Cebu.
