For August 2026, the MK Calendar features the 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘨, a lip-valley flute played for serenades, leisure, and evening entertainment. Among the Bontok, it is also performed during wakes. It is known as 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘪 or 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘺𝘰𝘱 in other Cordilleran groups.

From Fam𝑖𝑙𝑖 Time to Weaving Wellness, the Museo Kordilyera welcomed families, colleagues, friends, and community members for meaningful moments of connection, creativity, and learning.

Inspired by the spirit of the Utos, Sundin, Palakpak (USP) Framework by Office of the President, these activities created opportunities to spend quality time with loved ones, strengthen community ties, and celebrate wellness together.

In observance of the 39th Founding Anniversary of the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Museo Kordilyera is closed today, July 15. Regular museum operations will resume tomorrow, July 16.

“𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗚”

For July 2026, the MK Calendar features the 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘨/𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘨 (Kalinga) or 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 (Itneg), a leg xylophone made of bamboo or wooden blades placed on the thighs and struck with sticks. Used for rituals, work, courtship, and rest, it is played collectively among the Kalinga and as a single set among the Itneg.

Lots of smiles filled Museo Kordilyera once again!

As part of Fam𝑖𝑙𝑖 Time, we were delighted to welcome the UP Baguio Day Care Center (Batang Oble) last May for a fun-filled morning of storytelling, coloring, paper weaving, interactive learning, and a kid-friendly museum tour. They also learned about Cordilleran culture through fun and engaging experiences, capped off with simple treats.

Thank you, Batang Oble, for bringing so much energy and joy to the museum. We hope to see you again soon!

“𝗦𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗣𝗢”

For June 2026, the MK Calendar features the 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘱𝘰 or 𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘺𝘱𝘰, a bamboo pipe producing soft, whistle-like tones. Played solo or in ensembles, it was once used by hunters to move quietly through forests and is now mainly performed during gatherings and leisure.

Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan! 🇵🇭

In observance of Philippine Independence Day (Araw ng Kasarinlan), the Museo Kordilyera is closed today, 12 June 2026. The museum will reopen on 15 June 2026 (Monday).

May this day remind us of the enduring spirit of freedom that continues to shape our nation.

Regular museum operations are back. We are now open again from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

It’s Fam𝑖𝑙𝑖 Time, UPB!!! 📣

In view of the directive of the Office of the President under the Utos, Sundin, Palakpak (USP) Framework with the theme “giving people back their time to be with family”, the Museo Kordilyera presents “Weaving Wellness: A UPB Fam𝑖𝑙𝑖 Time” on Friday, 29 May 2026. This day celebrates the joy of being with family while giving back to the UP Baguio community (𝑖𝑙𝑖).

This activity is open to ALL UPB EMPLOYEES (Administrative Staff, REPS, Faculty, COS, Security and Utility personnel). You may bring your families and loved ones to the Museo Kordilyera from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, FREE OF CHARGE. This is on official time and counts as your wellness break.

You may also spend your wellness break with us from 3:00-5:00 PM as you connect, unwind, and learn PAPER WEAVING.
