The ’s (SC) 125-year journey and legacy of upholding justice and the rule of law have been brought closer to the Filipino people through a commemorative banknote and coin from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and commemorative stamps from the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) formally launched on June 10, 2026, at the SC Session Hall in Manila, in honor of the Court’s 125th Anniversary celebration.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led the ceremony, joined by SC Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen and Associate Justices Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, Amy C. Lazaro-Javier, Henri Jean Paul B. Inting, Rodil V. Zalameda, Samuel H. Gaerlan, Jose Midas P. Marquez, and Raul B. Villanueva.
Also present at the event were BSP officials led by Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. and PHLPost officials led by CEO and Postmaster General Maximo C. Sta. Maria III.
The commemorative coin is minted in Nordic gold and bears a face value of PHP 125.
The commemorative PHP 3,000 banknote is the first issued by the BSP adopting a vertical design.
Although legal tender or legally valid for payment, both commemorative issues will soon be available for purchase at the BSP and the newly opened SC Gift Shop.
The stamps will be available for sale at the PHLPostCentral Office in Manila and at the SC Gift Shop.
SC Spokesperson Atty. Camille Sue Mae L. Ting emphasized that the commemorative currency and stamps serve as enduring reminders of the SC’s place in the nation’s history.
During the ceremony, Chief Justice Gesmundo and Postmaster General Sta. Maria also signed the official First Day Cover issued by the PHLPost.
SC Clerk of Court En Banc Atty. Marife M. Lomibao-Cuevas underscored how the SC’s anniversary celebration honors the SC’s distinguished past while affirming its commitment to innovation and institutional transformation.
