This very special event forms part of the Whangārei Silver Festival:

Tintype photography uses equipment and techniques developed during the 1850s, where plates of glass or aluminium are individually coated and sensitised in his mobile darkroom before being exposed and developed while wet. Once fixed, washed and dried they are then coated in a gum sandarac varnish that preserves and protects them for generations.

The magic happens in Adrian’s 1950’s bondwood caravan which features a mobile darkroom. Adrian also includes a digital file with each session. View Adrian’s work at: https://tintypecentral.com/

Adrian is also hosting an Artist Talk at Whangārei Museum between 10am-11am on Saturday 21 September. It’s free entry and everyone is welcome!
