Quadrangular Rugby Tournament History - 1960s
The 1960s saw WCS make six finals with two titles:
1967 draw Wellington College 0-0
1968 v Christ's College 13-9

"While the whole XV played with precision and admirable elan in the first half, Natusch in particular showed superlative judgement, passed faultlessly and ran elusively at speed, while a dashing Hill made several tremendous runs, one of 50 yards from No. 7 in the lineout. Under the severe pressure of the second half Collier got in more tackles to the minute than most, Nolan defended resolutely in midfield as did Bowie on the wing, an alert Mackie at halfback harassed his opponent at vital moments, and Hill gave object lessons in defensive falling on the ball. "

Quadrangular Rugby Tournament History - 1950s

The 1950s saw WCS make six finals with two titles, both draws:
1952 v Nelson College 9-9
1958 v Nelson College 3-3

1954 was the School Centenary and Nelson College kindly agreed to swap their hosting of the Tournament to 1953 so WCS could host in 1954.

From the 1954 Collegian:
"The Tournament was held in Wanganui under fine conditions. The three
visiting teams had won good reputations for themselves and School's team, after
a slow start, had worked into quite a solid side. No team was allowed to be spectacular and, indeed, each seemed to meet sterner resistance than they had
hitherto struck. A feature of the games was, however, the few bad mistakes
made. "

Inter-School fixtures v Lindisfarne College - Wednesday 27 March from 10.30am in Hastings.

To our Old Boys and Girls in Hawke's Bay come along and support our teams - Rugby, Football and Hockey.

The programme is in the post below.

Tomorrow, we proudly welcome Whanganui Collegiate School to Lindisfarne College for our annual Winter Sports Exchange.

This exchange has been part of our sporting calendar as far back as 1956 and continues to be a valued tradition for both colleges.

Seven teams will compete across rugby, football, and hockey throughout the day, with plenty of quality sport and school pride on display.

We extend a warm welcome to the Whanganui Collegiate players, staff, families, and supporters travelling to Hawke’s Bay and look forward to hosting you at Lindisfarne.

We’d also love to see our Lindisfarne community on the sidelines supporting the boys throughout the day.
