Fun Fact💥
More than 350,000 people have walked the decks of the PS Waimarie since she returned to the river in 2000.

Families. School trips. Visitors from around the world. People who got married. People who reunited. People who have laughed, some cried, and People who’ve sailed with her every year.

Just like in the 90’s, those decks need the power of a community again...

Let's help the next 350,000+ experience heritage in motion.

Small change. Big difference.

She was built in London in 1899. Shipped to New Zealand in 64 crates. Sank in 1952. And in February 1990, in a public meeting, 80 people supported the idea that she was worth saving.
Today, over 350,000 people have walked her decks, created memories, and felt the wairua of the awa.
Now, she needs the power of a community again.
PS Waimarie needs her decks replaced in 2026, and we're asking the community to give a little. Or a lot. All the dollars and cents make a difference.

Watch her journey, Share the story. And if you can - give a little.

Small change. Big difference.

February 1993 - Volume 2 No. 5, Continued...

Day 2: Kevin and Roy, onboard "Gwenalda", arrive on site with barge in tow and set it in place beside the hull. Greg was our diver this day and he palced markers for the digger to folow. Excavation work started at 12.30 on the inshore stern corner and from stern to bow and back down the starboard side. It was all done by 5pm thanks to the team working that day. The main organiser from here was our trustee, Mr. Peter Williamson, to whom our appreciation for the successful and safe salvage is noted.

When a Boats a Train... 🚂🚢

Even with reference images and clear instructions... AI still looked at our boat and said 'Yep, that’s definitely a train.' 🚂🚢

Bless its little digital heart, this is what happens when artificial intelligence meets artificial common sense.

PS: You can join us on the 6th June to meet Steam Incorporated at the Train bridge to hear the sweet sound of steam song....
