22nd MAY 2026: OPEN Tonight, CLOUDY Night Program if required, Cloud may or may not impact our viewing, but we will observe what we can, along with telescope tours / stellarium talks as required.
Gates opem 7.20pm for the 7.30pm start

PSA: Do dress warmly when coming on your tour! It's icy out there and we want you to enjoy it - Multiple layers and good footwear with a couple pairs of socks and a good beanie will make for a more enjoyable night under the stars!

If you are up early tomorrow morning before the Sun, be sure to catch this gorgeous trio in the dawn skies. You'll be able to spot Saturn, a thin crescent Moon, and Mars hanging low together in the eastern sky before sunrise. The best time to catch them will be around 6am.

The New Zealand Space Agency is celebrating their 10-year anniversary. They're offering our tamariki a chance to demonstrate their creative skills. 🚀 Patch to the Future is now live - a mission patch design competition for Years 1–8 (ages 5-13) from our New Zealand Space Agency.

🛰️ This is a chance for students to explore space, science and New Zealand’s place in space through a mission patch design.

🔭 A mission patch is a small, circular design that represents an idea, goal, or mission. Astronauts wear them on their space suits to celebrate their mission – and now Kiwi kids can design one too.

✨ The winning design will be turned into an official New Zealand Space Agency patch – plus - the winner will get a limited edition New Zealand Space Agency jacket featuring their design!

Our 2026 winter season has started, Private goup bookings are held on clear Wednesday evening's through until end of September.
So if you're a scouts, cubs or guides group, schools group or a works social club looking for an activity thats out of this world, then drop us a line to [email protected]

Tours start with a guided laser tour of the night sky, followed by time on our fabulous range of telescopes, accompanied by your very own expert astronomer!
