Dave Shea is the newest member of the Old Courthouse gallery art collective, Ĺtaki.
He is a multimedia artist who specialises in leather work, which he finds enjoyably tactile, blending traditional skills with contemporary art. His work ranges from the practical, dog collars, wallets and bags to the theatrical, Roman helmets, quivers and Dragon dice bags and everything in-between, cute key rings, leather bound books and knife scabbards.
Each piece Dave produces is hand cut and hand sewn. He is happy to take on commissions and has restored saddles, binoculars and knives. His most resent restoration was restoring an antique Indonesian Kris knife and making a leather sheath that was sympathetic to its history.
In 2025 he was the winner of the creative art award, âPatterns & Geometricsâ for his piece âRetro gamerâ
If youâd like to chat with Dave and view his wide and unique range of work heâll be on duty in the gallery on Saturday 16th May.
239 Main Highway, Ĺtaki. Hours 10am - 4pm Thursday through Sunday.
