The Zimmermans They emerge occasionally to play their famous cousin's songs.

There's an old North Canterbury legend that members of the Zimmerman family emmigrated to the remote Lees Valley in the fifties from the Minnesota town of Duluth.

Not a Zimmermans gig. But some shared membership and definitely sharing a crossover constituency.

The Velvet Underground & Nico only sold 30,000 copies when it was released in 1967. But everyone who bought a copy started a band.

Martin Durant (Sneaky Feelings and more), Bill Nichol (Baby plus...), John Dodd (Skin & Bone etc.), Chris Nichol (The Zimmermans et al) and Lindsay Gregory (Heaven Bent) were five of them. Now they’re putting a band together to revisit some of those songs.

The Velvet Glove plays The Velvet Underground Unplugged at The Undercurrent, Jan 24. It’s an intimate venue. Book now so you don’t miss out.
