We are fortunate to have had donated over the years numerous clubs and organizations within the Temuka District donate to us their precious records for safe keeping, some from the late 1880s

I have just completed a list of those clubs and organizations along with the years covered, to share with our Facebook fans.

Any clubs or groups with minutes and information sitting in someones wardrobe or garage please consider donating these to us. We also appreciate that groups also consider giving us a donation to help cover the costs of keeping these safe and accessable when needed.

Sharing some images from The Temuka Happiness Club, formed in 1963, to entertain the elderly and the lonely citizens of the district. Meeting calledby Temuka Mayoress Mrs M.A. Cameron.

A nice read, citation record of the outstanding service provided to Temuka and surrounding district by Staff of the former TEMUKA POST OFFICE from 1868 to closure in 1995, from the Timaru District Council.

An interesting read and maybe a warning for any locally fund raised facilities we currently have, with the impending changes happening locally with council changes!

Seems the government in this case took over the running of the Temuka Drill Hall, built in 1870s, with locally raised funds.

Then the Defence Department in the 1940s took it over and then the Council had option to buy it back again!

Interesting bit of history from Timaru Herald 1952.
