We love celebrating all types of creativity, and last night’s Dlight Experience event at the TreeChurch and Gardens in Ōhaupō was amazing!

What an incredible experience to wander through the gardens under the stars, discovering different performances, sounds and lighting installations along the way.

From the powerful combination of Horomona Horo’s taonga pūoro and Jeremy Mayall’s piano and electronic soundscapes, to the Kulios string quartet, live poetry and Nathan King of ZED’s performance, it was a wonderful celebration of creativity.

Huge congratulations to all the talented creatives and everyone who brought this event to life.

We love seeing imaginative events like this happening right here in Waipā. It’s a fantastic example of what can happen when creativity and collaboration come together.

Here’s hoping Dlight becomes a regular fixture on our local events calendar!

We're looking for artists and creatives who love sharing what they do.

The Waipā Creative Trail showcases interesting and inspiring creative work.

It's also about meeting the people behind it, discovering how things are made, and hearing their stories.

For the 2027 Trail, we're once again looking for artists and creatives excited to be part of the experience.

This opportunity is for those who enjoy welcoming visitors, sharing their knowledge, talking about their work, and answering questions.

They want to make a visit to their studio or collaborative space interesting, engaging and memorable.

They also enjoy connecting with other creatives, supporting each other, and being part of something bigger than their own exhibition or studio.

And they'll help us spread the word and help make the whole Trail a success.

Does that sound like you? Would you love to be part of the 2027 Trail?

There's plenty of creativity to celebrate just down the road this weekend!

A big shout-out to our friends at Ōtorohanga Creative Conduit, who are bringing music, art and creativity together for Artbeat this Saturday and Sunday.

With a fabulous lineup of live performances, creative demonstrations, exhibitions, and more, it's a great opportunity to discover local talent, experience something new, and support the creative community in our neighbouring district.

🗓️ Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October
⏰ 10am–4pm

Head over to the Ōtorohanga Creative Conduit page for all the details.

We love seeing creativity celebrated across our region. Wishing the Artbeat team a fantastic weekend 🙌

There's a reason we called it the Waipā CREATIVE Trail, rather than the Waipā Art Trail.

We wanted to celebrate creativity in all its many forms.

It's also why we talk about artists and creatives, and use those terms really broadly!

We love having painters, potters, sculptors, glassmakers and other visual artists involved.

We also love those from many other creative modalities.

Take Rodney, who makes guitars. Greg, a blacksmith. Or Nita, who grows foliage.

They're all creatives doing fascinating things, and we want to celebrate them alongside the visual artists.

We've been wondering how much more variety we can add to the 2027 Trail.

Makers, designers, writers, musicians, craftspeople, and people working in creative mediums we haven't even thought of yet.

If you make, create, design, grow, build, perform or bring ideas to life in interesting ways, we'd love to hear from you.

Not sure if what you do and the Waipā Creative Trail are a good fit? Before ruling yourself out, message us for a chat.

Waipā artists and creatives, there are two ways you can be part of the 2027 Waipā Creative Trail.

1. Open your own studio

Invite visitors into your creative space, share what you do, show your work and give people a glimpse into your creative process.

2. Get creative together

Team up with other artists and creatives to bring a space to life!

It could be a shared exhibition, a group open studio, demonstrations, workshops, installations, or something completely different.

Whether it's just two of you or up to 20 creatives, this is an opportunity to collaborate, share your work, connect with visitors, and create a unique experience.

Expressions of Interest open Monday 2 November.
