Isaac Weston Artist Isaac Weston is a Tauranga-based copper artist creating vibrant sculptures and wall art through a unique process blending acids, salts, and sunlight.

Visit the Isaac Weston Art Gallery in Matua, Tauranga - open by appointment. www.reworkit.co.nz Isaac Weston is a Bay of Plenty artist who's design process incorporates fire, water, air and acids to reveal the hidden elements of metal. Light, darkness, texture and vivid patinas emerge through this alchemy. Isaac also enjoys the physical aspects of working with heavy metals and drawing out the organic beauty of this medium. Isaac's creative expression ranges from sculpture to art panels. He produces high quality gallery work and is inspired by the changing textures and colours of the materials he crafts from. Isaac works closely with his clients to capture their vision when engaged to create a commission piece. Isaac's art works feature in permanent public gardens at the Tauranga Historic Village, Tauranga Racecourse and the Te Puna Quarry Park. They also appeared in magazines, online news stories and on TV. One of his 1.6mt Copper Patina Art Circles featured in the winning lounge room on The Block NZ 2021. He has been a guest artist at the Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival for 2018 and 2020 and will appear again in 2022. Isaac's work can be seen at the galleries and garden centers listed below under the brands of "Re.Work.It" and Isaac Weston Artist". Coastlands | 1200 x 580mm

I’ve always been drawn to the colours and movement of the coast, and Coastlands is my take on the meeting of land and sea. The flowing copper lines follow the movement of the waves, while the blues, greens and earthy copper tones reflect the ever-changing colours of the coastline.

This one was a pleasure to create, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it finds its new home.

Saturdays are usually spent making art or getting stuck into the garden, but today was a bit different, and very cool!

We started the morning being interviewed by Katrina and Oli from OK Studio , If you ever get the chance to work with these two wonderful humans, jump at it! Being interviewed by them is basically like having a chat with great friends, relaxed, easy and a lot of fun ❤️

Then this afternoon we headed to the Mount for the soft opening of the beautiful new Artehaus Gallery. What an incredible space! Lynley has put so much work into creating it, and it really shows.

If you’re in the Mount, make sure you pop in and have a look. You’ll find it at 198 Maunganui Road, and trust me, it’s a feast for the eyes! And while you're there, check out some of my latest pieces too ✨️

Plus, Arte Haus Gallery on the cruise deck is still there too, so it's double the art for the win 👌

OBSIDIAN FLOW 🖤

Sometimes, when I open a copper cylinder, I discover something special...a deep black patina that seems to appear only around the 20-year mark.

I have used this naturally blackened layer of copper to create Obsidian Flow, polishing the edges to reveal the warm, golden glow of the copper beneath.

No paint. No two pieces the same.

Just copper, water and 20 years of time. ✨

Sometimes, when I open a copper cylinder, I discover something special, a deep black patina that seems to appear only around the 20-year mark.

Chasing Light ✨

Introducing Chasing Light, a new copper wall sculpture, measuring 1600mm x 330mm.

This piece is all about the way light moves across the surface of copper, highlighting the texture, folds and changing tones within the metal. The small hand-worked marks add another layer of detail, revealing something different as you move around the piece and the light shifts.

Chasing Light is now available to view at the Isaac Weston Art Gallery in Matua.

Endless Break II is heading off to a new home on a kiwifruit orchard in Te Puke! 🥝💙

The new owners had a pretty good idea of what they were looking for, and this luminous blue patina, surf-inspired artwork immediately caught their eye. They came to visit this afternoon, saw it in person , and it turns out, this was the one.

I love it when everything just falls into place and a piece finds exactly the right home. 😊
