🎡 Lots of ceramic birds are pretty. But have you seen one that can sing? 🎡

Meet Lindsey Butler – one of the brilliant potters in our Birds of a Feather exhibition. And that little ceramic beauty in her hands? That's not just a sculpture. That's an ocarina.

An ancient wind instrument – small, egg-shaped, with a mouthpiece and finger holes – that Lindsay has shaped into a bird.

🐣 Lindsey is part of our flock of 30 potters, each bringing something unique to The Pot House.

🎢 Take one home to play for yourself. (And see all the other fabulous pieces while you're here.)

MAY ART PARTY – you showed up and how! πŸ™Œ

πŸŽ₯ Relive the magic – or see what you missed!

That energy. That crowd. That beautiful, buzzing night when the Village came alive.

To everyone who walked through our doors on Friday night – THANK YOU.
For the connecting. The laughing. The art-loving. The clay-sculpting. The vibing to Paul Found's soulful blues. The staying late because you didn't want the night to end.

✨ You are the reason Tauranga's creative scene has a heartbeat.

For those who haven't made it to one of our Art Parties yet – this reel is a snapshot of what you're missing. Community. Creativity. Pure vibes.

And good news: all four exhibitions are NOW OPEN! 🎨

🐦 24 HOURS UNTIL WE FLOCK TOGETHER. 🐦

Tomorrow night. The Pot House. 30 potters. One very bird-brained exhibition.

πŸ“Έ And then there's Dianne Caton – one of our fabulous flock. She's been in love with clay for over 50 years. That's half a century of pinching, coiling, slab-building, and saying "just one more scratch…"

Because here's the thing about Dianne: she cannot leave a piece of clay plain.

An uncontrollable urge takes over – to carve, embellish, scratch, alter. Driftwood somehow finds a home on many of her pieces. Raku with intricate cutouts? Yes. Sgraffito? Absolutely. A plain smooth surface? Never.

Her secret weapon? Patience. And knowing exactly when a slab is leatherhard enough – not too wet, not too dry. As a functional potter friend from Kansas once told her:

"The leatherhard stage is the last time you can perfect the piece. So take your time."

Dianne took that advice and ran with it. For five decades.

Come see what happens when a potter refuses to leave well enough alone. (Spoiler: it's gorgeous.)

πŸŽ‰ TOMORROW NIGHT – GRAND OPENING! πŸŽ‰

πŸ•ŠοΈ The woman behind the wings. πŸ•ŠοΈ

This whole feathered frenzy started with a simple invitation.

Anett put a call out to the ceramic community across the Bay of Plenty and Waikatoβ€”just a quiet "hey, who wants to make birds?"β€”and somehow, magically, over 30 potters flocked in.

And Anett? She was so moved by the response that she decided to say thank you in the best way possible: with clay.

🐣 A little gift for our artists

As a small token of appreciation for each participant, Anett hand-built 30 little bird business-card holders to keep with the theme. Each one is unique. Each one holds the artist's cards during the show. And each one comes straight from her heart (and her hands).

πŸ“Έ Check out the photos!

Ohβ€”and Anett's also contributing her own work to the show. She loves working in series and has been busy creating a collection of bird wall hangings and small sculptures. (This pic of her was taken last year at the Quarry Ceramic Awardsβ€”sorry, that one sold, but she's made similar ones!)

🐣 Hatch a plan to come see these - coming soon to The Pot House
