An honour for our gallery walls: works by the esteemed Trevor Pye have arrived. 🪨 Here is one example we have available. - Still Life with a Memphis Turn of Mind.

A leading figure in New Zealand contemporary art, Pye (b. 1956) has forged a uniquely subtle and powerful practice since the late 1970s. His work exists in the space between sculpture, painting, and object, defined by a quiet, deliberate – and often wry – intervention with materials.

Graduating from Elam School of Fine Arts, his pieces are held in major national collections, including Te Papa Tongarewa and Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

Pye’s philosophy is one of acute observation and minimal interference. He selects humble, often found materials—rough timber, river stones, leather, bitumen—and through precise gestures, uncovers their innate poetry. We are so fortunate to present this remarkable artist’s work, thanks to the trust that manage the gallery - The Incubator Creative Hub.

Experience Trevor Pye’s art at The Artist Window Gallery.

A glimpse into the studio of award-winning artist, Vicki Fraser. 🖼️✨

Not long ago we visited Vicki in her light-filled home studio—two spaces thoughtfully divided between a warm, welcoming display gallery and a dedicated painting area.

Her Jensen Award trophy, won at a Tauranga Art Society exhibition, takes pride of place atop a set of charming repurposed lockers from Tauranga Boys’ College. The aged wood adds a beautiful, homely glow to the space. The gallery building itself has a past life—it was once used for campervan storage and, until very recently, housed a slate pool table enjoyed by her family. 🎱➡️🎨

Her latest sale at the time was a thoughtful still-life of pears, so freshly completed the oils may still have been wet when the customer brought the piece. (A lucky collector has snapped that one up). 🍐

Vicki’s current focus includes larger-scale works, like her compelling ‘Gentle Giant’ horse painting, and experimenting with custom frames featuring soft, rounded corners—examples of which you can see here.

Discover more of Vicki’s nostalgic and evocative works at The Artist Window Gallery, under the umbrella of Incubator Creative Hub. Find us at The Historic Village on 17th Ave, you can find us first shop on the right through the front gate.

Open daily, 10am–3pm. We’d love to see you. 🤝

Stepping into an artist’s studio reveals the soul of their work. 🎨 We recently visited Joyce in her home studio—an established creative haven nestled at the foot of her house.

A Bay of Plenty artist, born in the Netherlands and now rooted in Tauranga, Joyce thrives in the realm of mixed media. Photography, painting, sculpture—she transforms whatever crosses her path into something layered and alive. 🌿 For her, creation is both a personal alchemy and a way to process the world, weaving stories, healing, and a touch of magic into every piece.

A beautiful old glass display cabinet holds pride of place—a constant in her practice since 1995. 🪞 It journeyed with her from Christchurch, to her former retail studio in the Historic Village, and now here, a silent witness to decades of creativity, filled with precious treasures.

Her current favourite work? A house on a hill—her dream house. 🏡 It speaks of the great journey: accessible, yet earned. She loves the striking tree (perhaps too striking), and often works with oils on wood, where stories live in every grain. ✨

Explore Joyce’s evocative works at The Artist Window Gallery, under the umbrella of Incubator creative hub. Find us at Historic Village on 17th Ave. Open daily, 10am–3pm.

Stepping into the studio of an artist reveals the heart of their work. We recently visited Alison in her garage-turned-sanctuary, where her established practice comes to life. 🔥 Situated alongside her working studio space in her garden.

An artist from a young age, her passion spans painting to welding. She finds inspiration in the hues and textures of the manufactured and the natural world. Her joy is in the making.

Her unique garden sculptures are displayed among native planting, adding a touch of wit and charm to the landscape. Step inside to discover vibrant acrylic works and indoor pieces. 🌿✨

Each creation has a story. ‘Butcher Man’, for instance, began with a single given butchers hook—transformed into a nose—with meticulous attention paid to every detail of toes and fingers. It’s a labour of love.

We asked her the story behind the gigantic knife - " I made a smaller one first a butter knife, but the studio where I sold it wanted more, So I thought I would make a bigger one. Its a pretty cool knife, the handle is a piece of old wood off the side of the road. I didn't buy the bolts I had some in my collection of recycled bits that I often get given. I bought the blade though because I needed the exact size and thickness, I probably will do another one but somebody said why don't you do a meat cleaver ? That sounds like fun. When I sell something, it always inspires me like I get this boost of energy of wanting to create you know, when people buy."

Explore Alison’s available works at The Artist Window Gallery, administered by The Incubator Creative Hub . Find us at theThe Historic Village, Tauranga on 17th Ave. Open daily, 10am–3pm.
