Come down and watch fire turn water into steam into torque.

Gates open at 10am,
Last entry 3pm.
Adults $10
Under 15 free.

Another cool thing we have in our dairy collection is this device.
It was used to get the last of the buttermilk out of the butter.
Freshly churned butter was placed on and massaged by the roller, squeezing out the buttermilk
The milk then ran out a hole in the center.

Today we had a group of correspondence school kids spent the morning at the museum.
We had the model steam running when they got here, then we talked about and lit our big boiler with them.
While that was warming up they did butter making, morse code, spinning tops and a forge demo.
After all of that the boiler was up to pressure and running and they had time to explore the rest of the museum.
Awesome bunch of kids.

Last week we had about 100 kids from Lynmore Primary visit the museum.
50 in the morning, 50 in the afternoon.
We set up butter making, spinning tops, forge demo, stilts, crochet, quoits, horseshoe throwing and laundry washing.

On these chilly mornings there's 1 place i like to be.
Thats stoking our boiler on our monthly steam day.

We will be running it this Sunday 9th August.

At our museum we have a nice collection of dairy related items.
Including this hand operated Alfa-Laval separator.
It used centrifugal forces to separate cream and milk.

This Massey-Harris sits on the grounds of the museum.
We encourage kids to climb on and pretend to drive.
Making it popular and in alot of photos.
