SIMON MAX BANNISTER >

A beautiful meeting of art and the Southern landscape.
Inspired by Glenorchy and Central Otago, Simon Max Bannister’s Falcon Study – Anticipation pairs locally sourced schist with a handcrafted bronze falcon.

Perched amongst the rugged stone, the falcon reflects Simon’s fascination with nature, habitat and our connection to place. We love the sense of strength and stillness in this work, and the contrast between the raw schist and detailed bronze.

Falcon Study – Anticipation is currently on display at Artbay Gallery. Pop in to experience it in person, or get in touch with our team to find out more.

ILYA VOLYKHINE >

We're excited to welcome four new works by llya Volykhine to Artbay Gallery.

Ilya's work explores domestic interior and exterior spaces, and how the figure moves and interacts within them.

Working with ink, graphite, charcoal, pastels, oils and homemade dyes, Ilya builds layers through collage, handwritten Russian letters, newspapers and poetry, bringing texture, personal history and the language of his childhood into each work.

If you would like more info about these incredible pieces please contact us at the gallery on 03 442 9090, or if you would like to see how one could look in your home, please email an image of your wall to [email protected]

MAX PATTÉ >

Light, colour, tone and saturation all have a direct effect on our mood, changing our emotions as much as our environment.

Working across light, painting and sculpture, Max Patté uses colour, movement and atmosphere to transform the spaces around his pieces.

Immersive and multi-sensory, his practice is designed to shift
our perception and create an emotional response.

As Lightworx enters its next chapter, we’re excited to continue showcasing Max’s work through Artbay Gallery.

There’s something about street art that makes you stop and look twice.

We had an incredible opening last Thursday, with a full house & 12 red stickers marking works that have already found new homes.

Paint The Town brings together Rachel Rush’s bold colour, expressive characters and playful take on the unexpected.

We invite you to experience the remaining works before the exhibition closes on the 20th of September.

INTRODUCING > HARPER

We’re thrilled to welcome Harper to Artbay Gallery and share her work with you.

A Queenstown-based artist, Harper draws inspiration from the landscape surrounding her home in Jacks Point. Her Waters Edge Series explores the meeting point between land and water, earth and sky, capturing moments of calm, light and atmosphere.

Rather than simply depicting the landscape, her paintings capture the feeling of being within it, inviting us to pause and take in those quieter moments.

We’re excited to introduce her work to Artbay and welcome this new chapter.

If you’d like to learn more about Harper’s work, get in touch with Pauline, Penny or Rex 📩 [email protected]
