Honouring D-Day: Remembering the Sacrifices Made for Freedom πΉπ
Today, 6 June, we pause to mark the anniversary of the D-Day landings in 1944. We remember the immense bravery of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy, launching the operation that changed the course of World War II. As guardians of South Canterbury's history, we reflect on the incredible courage of all those who served overseasβincluding the many railway workers, engineers, and local community members who left their regular lives behind to fight for the freedom we enjoy today. Their dedication, sacrifice, and spirit will never be forgotten.
Lest we forget. π³πΏποΈ
