Otane Arts & Crafts Corner 'To promote the teaching and development of various forms of arts and handicrafts or other cultural The centre was officially opened on 1st September 1970.

History

The old Otane School was opened in 1900 and for many years served the population of the area before a new building was erected across the road in the 1960's. By 1970 the old school was to be demolished but a group of far sighted residents saw an opportunity to create a centre for the development of various arts and crafts. A society was formed and the building was vested to the District C

ouncil who leased it to the society. Our Groups

OAC Art Group members submitted paintings in Art HB's Annual Exhibition 2026 "Artfully Yours". We are pleased to announce that we came home from the Opening Monday night with 3 awards!
Helen Reyland won the overall Mystery Prize & was Highly Commended in the Water Category.
Karen Pallesen was pleased to have won the Abstract Category again this year. Hastings Art Gallery is open until May 2 for you to view!
