Only 8 days left to see my exhibition Land | Sea | Change at Whakatane Gallery.
This painting is called Rhythm in Lines. Doesn't really look like landscape does it? but it is.
I think it's one of my best works, it spends time on my wall as I like gazing at it because it's a bit mind bending with an optical illusion feel. People ask me which layer came first?
Want a painting that makes people gaze at it for a long time? I feel a painting that generates questions is the best type to have on a wall.
Underneath is a fantastical landscape with a mixed up set of layers and two grids.
Life is complicated

These are some of my works currently in my exhibition . They explore how water and earth change at landscape scale.
I'm thinking of how islands change as they have in the harbour I live next to. I'm thinking about the difficulty for mapmakers,
I'm thinking of how to make sense of the familiar becoming unfamilar.
I'm thinking I should be thinking of these things.

This work is one of four in the same palette choice. I’ve painting a lot of squares and rectangles in a huge new series most of which are under guard in the studio.
This one escaped!!!

Gosh! it's only a week plus 1 day to the Tauranga Art Show. I've been so busy the time's getting away.
