📸 Photo Opportunity & Community Competition
Pioneer Village Kaikohe is excited to announce a new creative project — we’re putting together a line of Kaikohe + Village postcards, with the potential to grow into a 2027 calendar celebrating our home, our people, and our stories.

We’re inviting the community to share photos that capture something special:
- a moment worth sending across the globe
- a memory that becomes a keepsake
- a story that reflects Kaikohe’s heart
- a scene from the Village that makes you pause and smile

Send your photos to us by 30 April.
All entries will be displayed in an exhibition for public viewing and selection, and we’ll identify 12 standout images to feature. There’s no prize other than knowing your work becomes part of our community’s story — something to be shared, treasured, and proudly shown to the world.

This is open to everyone
- camera clubs
- school art classes
- individuals
- professionals
- learners
- anyone who loves capturing a moment

If you’re taking photos around the Village, please let reception know — chances are we won’t charge you an entry fee.

Let’s create something beautiful together and show the world what makes Kaikohe and Pioneer Village truly special.

Putting it out there — see where it grows💐
Community Garden Mornings Friday, 9.00–11.00am.

If you’re keen to help out in the gardens, enjoy a relaxed morning outside, and finish with a cuppa, we’d love to have you join us.

Bring your own tools or use ours. Each Friday we’ll tackle one small area together — and before you know it, every garden will be back in tip‑top shape.
Everyone welcome!

What a fantastic four weeks it’s been since opening our motorhome parking! We’ve had a steady flow of visitors, and the feedback has been nothing but glowing. People are loving their stay in Kaikohe — many even choosing to stay two nights.
The economic boost is already noticeable: campers are topping up supplies at our supermarkets, using our laundromats, enjoying local cafes and art galleries, and every single one has cycled the trail.
This initiative has brought new life and energy to Pioneer Village. Our staff and volunteers are buzzing with the extra visitors, great conversations, and wonderful reviews.
We’re helping put Kaikohe on the map — and it’s benefiting all of us

We even got a great reveiw on how lovely our public toilet is😃

Our food forests and heritage trees are thriving, and it’s incredible to see how much resilience they bring to Pioneer Village. We’re literally sharing the seeds of a future — sustainability on the grounds, healthy living, and the fruits of knowledge in more ways than one.

This year our fruit trees have produced exceptionally well, and the repurposed planter boxes from Recreation Road are now bursting with veggie gardens and strawberry beds.

With 5 acres of land and gardens across the Village, we’re always grateful for keen gardeners who’d like to lend a hand. Our community keeps this place growing — in every sense of the word.

Community gardening at its very best, do you want to be part of our team?

A massive thank you to Lucas, Galen Pinkney, and Jasper for another job brilliantly done. Lucas tackled the mountain of green waste with the digger, Galen hauled it away, and Jasper finished the job by levelling the area beautifully.

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to have such a supportive community behind Pioneer Village. Truly grateful for the teamwork and generosity!

Another shoutbout and big thank you to Shane Makiri from Twin Coast Adventures for coming to our rescue with a staff member and a stump grinder! The old stump in our carpark is finally gone — no more dent hazard, and we can fit another car in now.

Kaikohe has got some amazing people, doing amazing things.
Thanks Shane for supporting Pioneer village!

A huge thank you to our amazing neighbour, Rob Titter, for installing a new boundary fence. Kaikohe is incredibly lucky to have such a generous and hardworking businessman in our community "and some pretty awesome tradies"🤩🤩

We absolutely love our side of the new fence — it looks fantastic. Thanks, Rob!
