Another fabulous Sunday Studio with Brenda Cash. Yesterday we had an afternoon of Drawing Fun-damentals. Everyone looking and seeing, exploring negative and positive space and then full concentration with the paper bag challenge. Smiles all round as we scratched the surface of what drawing is all about and added a few new techniques to their own drawing toolbox.

Sunday Glimpse Inside the Gallery... Warning : popping in for a quick look may take longer than expected. There is a fabulous and wonderfully eclectic mix of artworks on display at the moment. Paintings, pottery, sculpture and all manner of creative goodness from our talented local artists and artisans. Basically, there’s a lot to look at. Come and have a look we are open today from 1–4pm. Uni Catastrophe by Cherol Filbee
Papier Mache and Mixed Media, wall hanging. 22cm x 16cm x 14cm
Cherol is a Hawera based creative. Known for her marionettes, cats and quirky animals made out of papier mache and mixed media. She is also a successful painter and playwrite. Cherol likes a challenge and her effervescent personality shines through her work. Her cats are well worth coming to see to make you smile.

What a great turnout for the opening night of New Plymouth Girls’ High School Student Exhibition. Lots of people came and went throughout the evening, all being impressed by the standard of work on display. The exhibition features artworks from Year 9 to Year 13 students and the exhibition runs until 20th September. Well worth coming in to see.

Kereru by Janine Miller
Clay and Glaze. 30cm x 20cm x 15cm
Janine began hand building native birds about three years ago. She enjoys working with the clay, finding it a lovely way to switch off from the stress of day-to-day life. Nature plays a big role in her work, especially the native birdlife of Aotearoa which continues to inspire her forms and ideas. There are a number of Janine's birds at Gover St Gallery and well worth coming to see.

Olivia is one of 37 New Plymouth Girls' High School students who have submitted work for their September exhibition. All the pieces are up and looking fabulous. Come and see for yourself, their opening night is today from 4.30pm and everyone is welcome. See you there.

Flow of the Koi by Mikaela Tice

Mikaela is a student at New Plymouth Girls’ High School and one of the emerging artists featuring in their September Student Exhibition. We have to say, the calibre of work is seriously impressive. 62 artworks on display and the exhibition opens this Wednesday from 4.30pm. Come along and see what these talented young artists have been creating. Everyone is welcome.

Sylvan explores the mind and what goes on beyond the superficial. Mixing the visionary, spiritual and psychedelic realms through minute precision and detailed patterns. Well worth coming to see.

This Wednesday (2nd September) Gover St Gallery will be keeping our doors open a little longer. From 4.30pm it is the opening night for the New Plymouth Girls’ High School Student Exhibition. Come along, check out what these budding creatives have been up to and give them some well deserved encouragement as they take the next steps on their creative journey. Everyone is welcome. Aroha and Kia Kaha Vases by Deborah French
Clay and Glaze. 30cm x 21cm x 11cm and 27cm x 22cm x 11cm, Sold separately.
Deborah draws on lived experiences when creating with clay, building pieces intuitively that draw on a fascination with personalities, vulnerabilities, quiet wisdom and how stories can be communicated beyond words. Her strong monochrome vases are part of the New Plymouth Potters Exhibition and well worth coming to see.
