A busy week at the Herring Hatchery. Remember that if you are requiring any Herrings , Red or Grey , by mid to late December then it is probably a good idea to put your name on the wait-list shortly. No rules in the fish world as far as school size goes but generally 1 Red Herring and as many Greys as you would like. Herrings sold individually.

"Mugs in a Menswear store". As part of Nelson Clay Week I have a display of mugs in the window of Nelson Tailors Menswear at 155 Trafalgar Street. There are many different Clay people represented in shop windows throughout Nelson. This week is Clayweek so keep an eye out for numerous events and exhibitions.

The Suter Gallery ceramics collection is on show ! Visit The Suter Te Aratoi o Whakatū to see a really cool selection of New Zealand ceramics from the permanent collection. There are works of mine from 2005 and 2024 as well as a piece by Katie Gold This and other ceramic exhibitions around Nelson are timed to coincide with Nelson Clay Week which showcases all things Clay from October 3 - 9.

Mugs getting a light spray of water this morning before the handles went on. It is a balance between the moisture content of the mug and that of the handle. If the mug is too dry the handle will crack a little during drying and a mug that is too soft will squash and distort during the handle application .

Fresh Imageware. A commission for a horse inspired Cylinder Bowl and a new line of Horse Mugs. Tasman Bay mugs now available at The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū in Nelson and The Old Post Office Store in Upper Moutere Village.

A fabulous day in a great piece of New Zealand. The Old Post Office is our Moutere stockist and I will be in attendance on Sunday. Call in for really nice coffee and a catch up .

Supersized Weathered Shell Fragment Platter with Snapper. ( On a very wet beach ) These platters are unique freeformed shapes with textured backs and fish or shell patterns, ranging in size from 500mm to 700mm.

Dinghy fishing this morning from the bottom of the garden at our house and studio. Maybe some Snapper inspired pieces will be created this week? Remember that you are very welcome to visit us at the beach. The Gallery has a selection of work by myself and Katie Gold Studio
