Anita Green joins us as a guest artist with her latest series of studio photographs, 'Eye Dahlia'.

Through a series of studio photographs she follows the growth cycle from dormant tubers, sprouts, blooms and seed collection from the enchanting world of dahlias.

The Bloom series displays the playful characters of individual flowers and unique passage as the petals move through their life cycle.

Guest artist Lindsay Embree has been a printmaker since 1980, working predominantly in stone, plate and waterless lithography with forays into intaglio, silk screening and relief printmaking. Her inspiration has come from many sources: nature, folk art, crafts, art history, history, family and familial relationships, travel, and cultural influences.

Our Feature Artist this month is Barry Driver Artist who has titled his display "Swan Song" after one of the artworks on display.

Barry says: "Although I knew what the phrase meant, I didn't know why, so I looked it up and was quite taken by what I found: "Swan song" refers to a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. It is metaphorical and refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death while they have been silent for most of their lifetime. (Wikipedia).

"I'm pleased to report that any rumours of my imminent death or retirement are greatly exaggerated, as they say, but that doesn't mean I won't keep trying to paint beautiful songs."

Barry's new collection of artwork will be on the feature wall until 10 November.

Nelson Clay Week continues! Wall to Wall is delighted to welcome back Judy Green as a guest artist this month. Her ceramic pieces are carefully constructed and each one is unique.

She began working in clay 15 years ago, but it’s taken until this year for to exhibit her work publicly, both at Wall to Wall and with the Nelson Suter Art Society in the McKee Gallery.

It's .clay.week! At Wall to Wall we have ceramic artwork from three artists: invited guest Debbie Pointon, returning guest artist Judy Green and collective artist .

Please join us on Sunday from 5 - 7pm to meet them, in addition to other collective members and guest artists.

Our invited guest is Debbie Pointon who is a multi-media artist from Paraparaumu with a lifelong involvement in many facets of the art world. For Clay Week, we’ve asked Debbie to focus on her ceramic work and from Friday we’ll have a selection of her saggar-fired porcelain on show. She also has had work accepted into the Pushing Clay exhibition at Tāwera, the new premises of Hiwa, the rebranded Arts Council Nelson.

Several of our artists have had work selected for the prestigious Tasman National Art Awards .

With artworks selected by artists from all around New Zealand, this exhibition is worth a visit.

The exhibition runs from Sun 27 Sept - Sat 10 Oct at the Mapua Community Hall.
