ANZAC Day is commemorated in Australia and New Zealand on the 25 April to mark the landing of troops from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (hence ANZAC) on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey on 25 April 1915.
The ANZACs were part of the British forces comprising personnel drawn from across the Empire – India, Newfoundland, Egypt, South Africa and Rhodesia. Also in support were soldiers from France and elements of the Russian navy.
The Rhodesian Services Association hosts a service each year at The Lion and Tusk Museum. Our commemoration service is open to all, and we appreciate and enjoy the company of people of all ages, countries of birth and beliefs, all gathered together on this day in mutual respect of each other; and in commemoration of those who have given their lives in war.
