ABSTRACT ART
I think of the art of early civilizations unearthed by Archeologists.
It will take supernatural expertise to separate our modern works from the rubble.
On the other hand, as much as I admire the skill, art that looks like photos ( to me) is a waste of time. ( Just take a photo).
I think that's why my work falls somewhere in between.
The experts have all kinds of flash names for things. But my work has never been painted for experts, I paint for the people on the street.
The art that moves me, is art that captures a mood, a temperature, and warms a room. With the obvious human imperfections that make works unique to the individual.
If my art was likened to singers, musicians, I work liken it to bjork or Tom Waits. ( Or at least strive to be like) 'Unapologetically me'.
It takes guts I think, to be 'You' in a judgmental world. And good art ( in my opinion) is produced by those who put it out there without an attempt to impress. To lean entirely on its uniquely 'You' element.
I think of Bob Dylon, who is one of my favourite champions of being himself in public, despite the modern world's demand for perfection. Was a leader in being himself in this age.
OK I'm pumped...... Where's the brushes, let me at it!
