The Hobbiton 'Middle-Earth Halfling Marathon' is a hugely popular event, held at the end of March every year and attracts literally thousands of international visitors. We are usually booked out for the event many months in advance. We had a lovely young lady stay with us this year who was happy to be photographed getting into the spirit of the event! Planning for the 2026 Halfling Marathon is already well underway!

The mares and foals just outside the guestroom window have been quite an attraction over the last few months. Loving the review that we got on Booking.com yesterday from a lovely Taiwanese couple: "Amazing suite and stunning views. You can even hear the horses snoring in the night time.100% recommend" Love it. 😄

Matamata is thoroughbred country..and how more Matamata can you get with now 4 x thoroughbred babies, chilling and growing, with their Mums right outside the window..there could well be a future champion amongst this lot. 😍.
