After some rather “enthusiastic” extreme weather part of our Shelter Cover was relocated … permanently. Unfortunately, it didn’t fully survive the adventure.
The good news? Thanks to our incredible supporters, we’ve already raised over half of our $2,000 target 🙌🔥
That shelter is a vital part of keeping everything ticking (and steaming!) along at Waimea Plains Railway, and we’re so grateful to be well on the way — but we’re not there just yet.

💻 Donations are still being gratefully accepted online via our website.
🚂 You can also donate in person during this weekend’s Mandeville Fly In & Steam Festival.
Every dollar gets us closer to getting it covered again and keeping local heritage on track.

Let’s finish what we’ve started and keep steam alive 🚂🔥

Well… the weather had other plans 🚂💨
In late 2025, some rather “enthusiastic” extreme weather decided our Shelter Cover needed relocating… permanently. Unfortunately, it didn’t fully survive the adventure.

That shelter is a pretty important part of keeping things ticking (and steaming!) along at Waimea Plains Railway, so we’re now on a mission to raise $2,000 to replace the missing section.

If you enjoy our running days, love the look of steam in the air, or just want to help keep local heritage on track — we’d be hugely grateful for your support.

Jump on over to our website and pop through a donation. Every dollar gets us closer to getting it covered again!
