This page is to help Museum members, supporters, and anyone who's interested keep in touch and be updated with our endeavours to find a new home. We'd also love to know what you want from Te Ūaka The Lyttelton Museum when it is rebuilt/rehomed. Te Ūaka The Lyttelton Museum started in 1968. It was housed in the Z-Company barracks building near tunnel entrance. In 1980, the museum moved to 2 Gladsto

ne Quay where it stood until the sequence of earthquakes starting on September 4, 2010 damaged the building until it had to be demolished in late 2011. Thanks to the help of many volunteers, including the Lyttelton Volunteer Fire brigade, Wigram Air Force Museum, and Stark Brothers, we rescued much of the collection and Museum treasures, which are now in storage.

Last Wednesday night we had our first of four Quiz Evenings at The Lyttelton Club. With nearly 60 participants divided into 10 teams competition was intense!

Zac Adams took the helm with topics ranging from ranged from 'Antarctica' and 'Photos from the Museum Collection' to 'Crime & Business' and 'Shipping News.'

Our very own Councillor for Banks Peninsula Tyrone Fields treated us to a talk about the region's museums halfway through the evening.

'Wi******er Wizards' won the evening and 'Forced Fir Ships' picked up a prize for best named team.

A great night was had by all.
