Kings Theatre Creative Kings Theatre Creative is a creative-community space in Bay of Islands, Kawakawa. We are reviving the 1930's classic Theatre with a collective vision.

Offering a seasonal programme of solo and group exhibitions, events, and workshops. Kings Theatre opened its doors in 1936 as the 'Showcase of the Bay of Islands' screening movies and creating entertainment and memories until 1976. The Theatre was then converted to a clothing store, second-hand-mart and most recently a kids play area. Now the gallery is a registered charitable trust and the creati

ve team hope to transform the theatre back into a showcase, not just of the Bay of Islands, but for Te Tai Tokerau art, creativity and culture. Connecting East & West as the cultural junction of the Far North/Bay of Islands District of New Zealand. A welcome to the essence of Northland and a place to connect with yourself, each other, the past, the future, the whenua and the spirit.
