Western Bay Museum New Zealand’s Best Small Musuem. We are the guardians and custodians of the Western Bay’s stories and treasures.

We champion, commemorate and celebrate those who worked together – local Māori, Ulster Irish and all other settlers - to build this region and who helped to make it what it is today. We live and breathe the pioneering spirit of those who came before us. We remember the storms and the hardships of the voyages that brought the settlers here to the Western Bay. We evoke the determination and struggle

s of the tangata whenua and the settlers who built this area and whose memories we work to keep alive. Because without them and their legacy, there would be no us.
