The Unauthorised History of Kaitangata The Unauthorised history of Kaitangata a page inspired by articles collected by the late P.W Ramsay

In 1971 amidsts a unprofitable coal operation, decling population and change in global economics the NZ mines department decided to donate the 'Improved F-Class Kaitangata' locomotive to the west coast historical and mechanical society. It is now one of four locomotives at the Shanty town historical village. We believe this historic train (loco) should be returned home where it can be admired and appreciated by its ancestors, locals and tourists that would be injected and drawn to the Clutha district. It might not happen in our generation and if cant pull it off maybe somebody else who might be inspired enough by this page and the proud history of Kaitangata can get her done.
