We recently hosted our very first introductory pastel workshop in the gallery, and what a beautiful beginning it was.

Each participant discovered their own unique style, experimenting with different pastels and papers to find what felt right for them.

Watching the creative process unfold from those first tentative marks to expressive, confident works was something truly special.

There’s something magical about seeing flow turn into form, and ideas transform into personal expression on paper.

We can’t wait to host many more of these inspiring sessions here in the gallery. 🎨

Pretty special moment for us this week 💛

Kaiapoi Little Gallery was featured on page 10 of the North Canterbury News!

It honestly means so much to see our little dream getting such awesome community backing. We’ve loved every minute of building this space, and the support from you all has been incredible.

Huge thanks to Shelly Topp for sharing our story we’re so grateful for the opportunity, and to everyone who’s popped in, followed along, or cheered us on it truly means the world.

An exciting new addition to Kaiapoi’s Little Gallery is the work of Marta Tymeineicki who works in dreamy watercolours. Come and check it out!

Kaiapoi Little Gallery was born out of a need by Artists to display and sell their work on a permanent basis as other galleries only cater for month long exhibitions or Expo’s lasting two days with commissions taken.
Kaiapoi Little Gallery provides a space for local Artists at a minimal shared cost with no commission therefore allowing the Artist and purchaser to benefit at lower price for art pieces.

Come and support us here at Kaiapoi’s Little Gallery upstairs in the Arcade in the heart of Kaiapoi.

Artist spotlight 🎨🔦

Lesley Reeves -

Lesley has always had a passion for creating.
Her extramural studies at the Learning Connexion encouraged her to draw on her own imagination,
which may explain why she finds experimenting with a variety of media and substrates especially rewarding.

Working with acrylics and inks, Lesley creates on paper, fabric, and wood, using both painting and printmaking techniques. She often draws inspiration from her own photography when developing original works.

Her creative process typically begins with a loose plan, sometimes developed using Photoshop.
However, her work often evolves organically, diverging from the original concept as it progresses.

Currently, Lesley is focusing on printmaking techniques
and mixed media.

Having lived by the beach in Rarangi, Marlborough for 24 years, she found endless inspiration in the birds, sea, and sky. Five years ago, she relocated to Amberley, where she has been an active member of the Amberley Art Group for the past four years.

Pop into the gallery during our opening hours and check her work out and grab yourself a print.

Amanda Wium
Acrylic and Mixed Media Artist

Originally from South Africa Amanda is a self taught artist with more than 20 years experience, her work is inspired by the little things in life like flowers in bloom, the textures of a close up landscape and the quiet moments that bring back childhood memories.

Her move to New Zealand has brought a fresh perspective and new colours into her work and she finds painting a beautiful way to slow down, reflect and stay connected to the beauty in everyday life and you can see it in her pieces here in the Gallery.

Marion Collins - Fibre Artist
Marion is a resident of Kaiapoi who loves everything about wool! She finds needle felting an ideal way to blend and stitch the vibrant hues of dyed sheep wool.
Marion is a member of the Rangiora Art Society and the Christchurch Weavers Guild and has exhibited her work at several art shows in the Waimakariri region over the past years.

Here you’ll find the beautiful felted creations of .liz.collin a talented needle felting artist whose work brings warmth, texture, and character to life.

Come into the Gallery to experience her art in person and if you’re lucky, you might even meet her on site!

Be sure to give her a follow and keep an eye out for upcoming workshops coming soon. You won’t want to miss the chance to learn from her firsthand.

Our gallery soft launch opening today was everything we hoped for and more! The room was filled with creativity, connection, and the incredible energy that only local art can bring. 🎨
Seeing our walls come alive through the work of such talented local artists and watching our community show up to support them made this opening truly special.

From meaningful conversations to unforgettable first impressions, this was just the beginning.
We’re so grateful to everyone who came out, shared the moment, and celebrated this new chapter with us.

The doors are officially open, and we can’t wait to welcome even more of you into the space.
