Rosanne Croucher, so Smitten at Sunset

Few visitors to the gallery have passed the composition, Lakeside Lingering at Turtle Lake, by gallery artist, Roneanne Croucher, without stopping and marvelling at the light creating a translucent effect through the rose petals. No surprise that this highly vibrant painting was going to be planted elsewhere. In this case to a new home recently acquired by a couple who intend to replace their previous art collection with gallery paintings. Quite right too.

Michele Rumney sells the Visitor's Centre

Much admired and now sold, Michele Rumney's composition entitled, 'The Visitors', from the exhibition, The Art of Hamilton Gardens.

Michele Rumney’s painting technique is a strong pastiche drawn from French artist Andre Derain's world of 1910 and the birth of the Fauvism movement that used strong gestural lines to imply both structure and content of composition. In this exhibition Rumney extends these lines to appear as the actual content that defines the subject matter. This can be seen in the depiction of 'The Visitors' where the composition presents dramatic immersive depth.

Celebrating one of the true greats

D A V I D
A T T E N B O R O U G H

David celebrates his hundredth birthday on 8th May 2026.

This painting, by gallery artist, Debra Thompson gloriously celebrates the sheer exuberance and iconic status that David Attenborough enjoys.

Still active, Attenborough has brought the natural world to our screens and collective consciousness like no-one else. Uniquely admired and loved the world over he strides across the pantheon of broadcasters presenting the best of humanity. A man of infinite faculty and grace.

David Attenborough is an irreplaceable global leviathan whose standing and status is untouchable.

Aleesha Winters sells out...

Curiosity and Colour at the Indian Garden, by gallery artist Aleesha Winter has found a home with a sunflower lover who was enchanted with the 'focus' of the composition. It's wonderful to see an artist selling out their pieces in an exhibition, especially when the artist has not been previously seen at the gallery. The Art of Hamilton Gardens exhibition is the better for it.

In her own words; 'There are many doors at the gardens. Many are a deliberate part of the garden installation and can be oversized, animated or have a secret garden behind it. Noting this, the exceptionally curious visitor may find themself wondering curiously at every door they come across. Can I open this door? Where will it lead?'

Cole Raithby's Floral Dance...

Cole Raithby's watercolour composition, Floral Dance, has sold to a local collector who was intrigued by the notion of The Art of Hamilton Gardens exhibition being interpreted as a form of dancing.

According to the gallery exhibition plate, 'the best way to describe Cole Raithby’s art is as a continuous dialogue with the impressionist painters of the late 19th and early 20th century. His three pieces in this exhibition are a distinct pastiche with the early work of Monet and more specifically the pointillism of Georges Seurat. This technique is used to highlight the overarching impression that the grand narrative of the gardens can best be appreciated through the delicate aggregation of grasses and floral representation. A dance'.
