๐ Exhibit Spotlight: Westland Scout AH Mk1 XV129 ๐
From military operations in Europe to forestry work in New Zealand, the Westland Scout AH Mk1 XV129 has lived an extraordinary life.
Built in 1967 for Britain's Army Air Corps, XV129 served with British Army units deployed to Germany and Northern Ireland during the Cold War, supporting reconnaissance, transport, and liaison operations. After retiring from military service in 1994, it began a second career in New Zealand's forestry industry before joining the Geraldine Military Museum collection
๐ค We are proud to display this remarkable helicopter on loan from its owner, Daniel Smith of the Rangiora Helicopter Heritage Museum, helping preserve and share this unique piece of aviation history with our visitors.
Today, this iconic helicopter stands as a reminder of both military service and New Zealand aviation heritage.
๐ Be sure to check out the Scout on your next visit to the museum!
