Memory of the Pa.
Acrylic on Canvas.
400x 500mm
$2000
This painting was painted by my memories created over my lifetime adventures in Hahei. The colours of the rock cliffs that varies from flat white to the oranges and pinks that are found across the Coromandel. The tunnel through to the back bay that can be accessed at low tide ( I do not recommend swimming through with your child strangling you and forgetting to kick)
but can’t be detected from the beach…. And dont forget the beautiful yellows in the grasses that sway against the blue summer sky backdrop.

Mares leg . Cathedral cove
Acrylic on canvas
300x400mm
$1500
Mares leg was destroyed in 1979 during a cyclone that removed all the sand off Cathedral Cove and Hahei beach. Bullock tracks could be found in the exposed clay so obviously this is a reoccurring event.

These 2 paintings are the start of my rock formations series. A collection of images from around the coromandel showing the variety of textures and shapes that have been exposed and moulded by wind and sea action on the volcanic components that make up this region.
I’m really keen to explore the Islands more by jetski and boat. A recent trip out to Slipper Island has me fascinated and I only got to see a small portion of the relatively protected side.
The open ocean sides of the islands are daunting monolithic rock bones of our country , while the gentler parts have hidden coves where the pohutukawa drip down to almost touch the water and the seaweed sways just beneath the surface.

Flaxmill bay .
Acrylic on Canvas
600x1370mm
$8000
I’m wondering how much even the more secluded Flaxmill Bay has changed over Time as It has suffered under the occasional whipping from the North westerly swells seeings the rocks beneath the cliffs seem to be made of the same material that the cliffs are made of. As are the massive boulders below Shakespeare cliff.
