“‘Strong Arm’ is a bit bigger than the size of my arm, and it’s tougher. She has a comically big bulging bicep - a muscle, not a P**i.
She has an elegant hand. The thumb and finger suggest a mouth - a hand puppet.
I thought about calling her ‘Affirmations’.
Strong Arm is my way of concentrating power when I’m making something in the studio. An imagined extension of my strength and intention, an object I can rely on when the going gets tough.
Right now she’s hanging in a configuration with other powerful objects made by me and at The National in Ōtautahi”.
