The Christchurch Star recently ran an article on the leader of our Mosquito restoration project. Note that we didn't get to fact check it before publication - I wish we had 30 volunteers (more like 10, of whom 4 work on the Mosquito), and the wonderful Carol merits *far* more than a couple of sentences in Dagy's story. C'est la guerre.

On this day 50 years ago (28 September 1975) was the last scheduled NAC (National Airways Corporation)flight for the Viscount. ZK-BWO "City of Dunedin", flew from Wellington to Christchurch. The crew were Captain Brian Dunn, First Officer C Regnault with Mrs A Hayden and E Martin as hostesses. Viscounts flew in NZ for 17 years. That's Captain Dunn on the left.

On this day 60 years ago (12 September 1965) Nac's Friendship ZK-BXC made the first Friendship flight into Rotorua. On board, traveling from Wellington was the Springbok Rugby team on tour against the All Blacks.

On this day 80 years ago (21 March 1945) a Lockheed Ventura piloted by Flight Lieutenant Farnsworth was doing radio range exercises and when he flew out of a cloud found a Douglas DC3 coming towards him. The two aircraft collided. Farnsworth kept control while his crew bailed out but he hit a hill trying to crash land. Flight Lieutenant Bade skillfully landed the DC3 at Whenuapai. ( NZ Tragedies in Aviation - J King)
