We endeavor to work with customers to cater to their requests and provide the best possible services however it is not always possible or practical to do so without increasing the costs that must be charged. We operate within best practi

ces and cost efficiency for your benefit. Below is provided for informational purposes only. Can I get an update on the status of my trophies? We have robust internal quality control management recording systems to assist us with tracking and recording all your items. We know exactly where everything is at any given time and who is working on them. The following are the stages your trophies go through, only stages/processes critical to furthering the process will we be contacting you:
Soon after the trophies arrive at my studio they are split into horns/antlers which are cleaned and boiled within a month or two and hides which are turned and frozen, The frozen hides are despatched to the tannery in a similar timeframe. Once at the tannery the waiting period for there return will vary greatly with the seasonality of their workload. This is beyond our control. No correspondence from the tannery in this regard will be responded to. Only when the skins are returned from the tannery can further work begin. Your job will be scheduled in accordance with our completion time criteria. Local hunters will be advised once the trophies are ready to pick up. For out-of-town kiwi clients once the trophies have been mounted we will contact you and you can decide to pick them up or have packed and sent: we can then invoice accordingly. For export clients once the trophies are mounted we will contact you, you must confirm all destination and brokers' information at that time and once we have measured the crate we will bill you. Please note that the squeaky wheel doesn’t get oiled in this profession, everyone is treated equally. We will only contact you when necessary, I respectfully ask you to do the same. Please give consideration to the Global Covid Pandemic and any related supply issues or lockdowns etc that are not within the control of this service. Why do we need a deposit? Some guarantee of payment is required. We have significant upfront costs: load-in, recording, skinning, tanning, and skull prep. Any load-in, cataloging, and processing is done once trophies are delivered are chargeable should the taxidermy contract be canceled. Failure to provide the credit card details means “Owners Risk -All care no responsibility”

How to pay your Taxidermy & Shipping Account:
Any inquiry regarding the payment of your taxidermy fees or shipping costs should be made directly to The Taxidermist Ltd. Your account will be in NZD (New Zealand dollars). We accept Visa and MasterCard for deposits, but for security reasons and bank fee deductions, we prefer you wire the money into our account for final payments. Relevant banking details will be attached to your account. Can I pay my final invoice with a credit card? We endeavor to charge everything at cost: carting, freight, insurance, permits etc. Credit card companies take a commission. Coupled with the fact that most deposit as also are paid with credit cards when the cardholder is present, and we have been advised by our bank that a non-cardholder present transaction pose a significant fraud risk. Final payments with credit card will attract a +7% surcharge of the invoiced amount due. Please notify your bank that a NZ company will be charging the card.
“Insufficient funds” transactions attract a re-submit fee of $50. Please ensure you have enough on the card you provide. For your security, we do not keep your card details from the initial deposit. We ask that you phone to give us a current credit card. What is the completion time? Please request a preparation time upon order. Confirm approximate delivery at that time. Please no further correspondence regarding the status of the trophies until completion of the work. If you are not in a hurry or your circumstances change, and you are unable to make full final payment within the time indicated, please advise us. We can adjust the completion time
The delivery time is subject to change without notice. Please give consideration to the Global Covid Pandemic and any related supply or lockdowns etc that are not within the control of this service. Correspondence and Communications. All phone calls are diverted to my cell phone. Please consider this and only call during trading hours. Text and Facebook messages are not suitable for most communications (price-lists etc). Questions of a technical nature should always be made by phone. Important information requests or instructions must be made by email. Especially if the response requires recording to the job-sheet (effecting the mount) or comprehensive written information such as pricelists or export requirements. Can I change the position or type of mount I want? When the trophies are delivered they are labeled with processing instructions and skins and skulls cut according to those instructions. Henceforth, alteration to an alternative style of mount may not be possible. Therefore, it is best you call during business hours and discuss any alterations and confirm the outcome of that discussion via email to ensure it is recorded on your job. Change of instruction may change the cost of the mount but usually does not affect the completion time. Why No credit card number, No delivery, No exceptions? We have limited freezer storage, we are not a dumping ground for unwanted trophies or clients’ indecision. Our advice is to budget for all your taxidermy needs before the hunt. Game Bird what is required:
You must provide your game bird license details upon delivery of the specimens. Unmounted game birds and small game will not be shipped with the big game without consultation with receiving taxidermist. Can I export trophies myself? All consignments are to be freighted by our freight forwarding company. Any alternative arrangements are at customers' risk and expense. Returning hunters can take as passenger’s baggage. Airline size restrictions apply. Please allow plenty of time (5 working days) for obtaining paperwork. Please phone to discuss specifics. Photographs of finished mounts? Sorry, due to the unrecoverable time and costs involved it is not possible to provide photos of any parts of the process or the finished product. From time to time I will post photos of finished mounts on my page.

Not all taxidermy mounts are created equal — and it shows.
You truly get what you pay for.

A top-tier mount is the result of a talented artisan working with the finest materials, combining modern innovations with traditional techniques passed down through generations. This is taxidermy at the highest level of the industry.

It’s all in the details.

Every trophy mount can be custom-positioned to suit the animal and the client’s vision. One popular philosophy is:
“If the animal grew it, we want to show it to its best advantage.”

This means carefully adjusting head direction, degree of turn, and sometimes even adding a subtle head roll so antlers or horns are fully showcased when viewed from the front. Eye rotation and ear position are then fine-tuned to reflect natural movement and intent — giving the mount real attitude and presence.

Subtle anatomical features matter too.
Details such as the dewlap, skin rolls, and accurate ear butt anatomy are all hand-modelled in clay, with the skin worked in to create a soft, natural finish.

Even the wall silhouette counts. The shape of the shoulder, forelegs, brisket, and offset shoulder mounts are all carefully considered to ensure an accurate, lifelike presentation.

When all the little things are done right, the result is simple:
They just look right.

🦌 Launching March 2026 — We Want Your Input! 🦅

Help Shape New Zealand’s Newest Taxidermy Supply Company

We’re excited to announce that Gen 4 Taxidermy Supplies will officially launch in March 2026. As we prepare to open our doors, we want to make sure we’re building a supply company that truly serves the needs of New Zealand taxidermists — from hobbyists to professionals.

Before we launch, we’d love to hear from YOU:

What do you want from a New Zealand–based taxidermy supply company?

Specific forms or species you struggle to source?

Tools or chemicals you wish were locally available?

Faster shipping on certain items?

Better-fitting manikins for NZ game?

Training materials, videos, or workshops?

More competitive pricing or bulk options?

Hard-to-find items you currently import from overseas?

Your feedback will directly influence what we stock, what we sculpt, and how we operate.

💬 Tell us what would make Gen 4 your go-to supplier.

Comment below, message us privately, or share your wish list.

Together, we can build a supply company designed specifically for New Zealand’s taxidermy community — by people who understand the craft, the game, and the local conditions.

Thank you for helping shape GEN4 before we launch in 2026!

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Hello Everyone, Wherever you are and whoever you are currently sharing your world with, I hope you are safe and well. No matter how young or old we are, none of us have seen days like these. They are challenging in so many ways yet they can also be surprisingly positive, with unexpected opportunities and great new learning experiences. People have a lot on their plates right now and that can be stressful- confined home life, new ways of working, remote schooling, staying physically active - all whilst doing our best to keep in touch with family and friends in other places.

We have to stay inside so are force to look inside ourselves. Ironically, although we have never been more separated, many of us have experienced more frequent and deeper connections with the people in our lives we might only see occasionally.

Many of my clients have call to check on me and you might be surprised what the demographic is? Young rural farmers not ones to typically express emotion have called for a chat, check on how things are going, not with their mounts but with me. One guy said that doing something for others takes his and my mind off the situation and right now this is all he can do. I thanked him and we talked about everything and nothing. Planned hunts, past hunts and dream hunts.

Often I have joked the rest of the country is on a four week vacation and we are the only ones working.
