Today we mourn the passing of Dame Jools Topp — a taonga of Aotearoa, and a woman who shaped what it meant to live proudly and openly as a le***an in this country.

From busking on Queen Street to our own collection, Jools and Lynda have always been part of our story. Jools was not just an entertainer — she was a pioneer who used music, comedy, and unwavering courage to make generations of le***an and sapphic women feel seen.

She lived with breast cancer for 22 years, and never let it define her. We honour that strength.

Deepest aroha to Dame Lynda and all who loved her. The golden thread endures.

Big time congrats to our Collections Manager Annika!!!
She graduated with a Post Grad Diploma in Museums and Cultural Heritage.
We are privileged to have her protecting and caring for our collection.

Her passion for our history shows in her high quality work, never cutting corners and always going the extra mile to ensure our taonga is cared for.
