Community arts centre in the city fringe Studio One Toi Tū offers more ways for all people to meet and share ideas, skills and practices.

We are always keen to hear from creative people, makers and innovators with ideas for events, activities and exhibitions or those with studio or space hire enquiries or proposals. We look forward to welcoming you to Studio One Toi Tū.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to weave a matalili from start to finish under the guidance of Dahlina. Blending traditional technique with accessible teaching, this session provides everything you need to finish and learn about the practice. All materials are supplied and yours to keep.

🌺ABOUT DAHLINA 🌺

Based in South Auckland, Dahlina is a contemporary Niuean maker whose practice sits at the meaningful intersection of Niuean craft traditions and modern artistic exploration. Her creative journey is deeply anchored in the wisdom, techniques, and lineage passed down by her Nana,
Finemanogi. Dedicated to preserving ancestral methods while actively evolving them, Dahlina reinterprets traditional skills through material experimentation—blending natural fibers alongside contemporary mediums.

🌟 Ina is also the recipient of Tautai Pacific Arts Trust Faleship residency programme 2026.

18 - 24th October 2026! 💛

We proudly present and support Niuean Language Week in a wellness weaving workshop with Niuean, Tongan and Samoan creative Jessie Atutolu-Tulisi. This workshop creates the opportunity for people to slow down and reconnect to our identities as pasifika peoples through talanoa, creativity and community. In this workshop, attendees will engage in a meaningful shared experience of learning how to lalaga their own ili. All levels of lalaga experience are welcome.

Thanks to everyone who came along to 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 last Saturday 🦇✨ Room 10 was full of amazing stallholders and their range of ceramic wares. Those lucky enough book a spot in a workshop were able to get stuck into making, with both wheel throwing and hand building sessions happening throughout the day🏺
